Biography

Gerry has over 20 years’ experience in cycling policy, programme and facility implementation in New Zealand. Initially working for the Taupo District Council (9 years) leading the development and implementation of the District’s walking and cycling strategy. The last 12 years has been at the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) where his role has been leading and/or contributing to the development and implementation of the Government and NZTA’s walking and cycling policy and operational initiatives, this has included project managing the Model Community programme and the Cycling Network Guidance. He is also the NZ Cycle Trail lead for the Transport Agency which has been overseeing and implementing cycle routes throughout NZ.

Biography

Jonathan Kennett works with NZTA developing a national cycling network and advising on the enhancement and extension of the New Zealand Cycle Trail Great Rides. He is well known for writing several cycling guidebooks and project managing the construction of a number of cycle trails. Jonathan also designs safety improvements for cyclists in rural New Zealand.

Biography

I am a Transport Planner in Auckland Transport's Walking & Cycling Department. I am responsible for walking and cycling projects in West Auckland and for monitoring of cycling in Auckland (and walking to a lesser extent). I have eight years experience working in the transport industry, having previously worked at Sustrans in the UK.

Biography

Dougal is the former National Cycling Manager for the NZ Transport Agency. In this role he led the $333 million Urban Cycleways Programme on behalf of Government. This nationwide programme was based on a system change approach – spanning over 50 partner organisations and 54 projects. Previous roles have included spearheading a range of transformational programmes and opportunities focused on improving places to enable a better future. This has spanned organisational change, sector wide programmes, policy development, major land use planning and infrastructure planning and delivery. Now working with the RDC Group, Dougal's consulting practice focuses on supporting organisations to develop and deliver collaborative cross-partner programmes and complex change projects. He recently completed the Tour Aotearoa and when not working can often be found on a bike track near Wellington.

Biography

Richard Landon-Lane WSP Opus Richard Is a Senior Transportation Engineer with 17 years’ experience in transport and safety design. He has worked on a number of cycling projects from route assessment through to detailed design in the Hawkes Bay (including iWay) and most recently on the Christchurch City Council Major Cycle Routes. He is the Design Manager for Velos (WSP/ Aurecon combined team) who are one of two professional service teams on the Cycleway panel for Christchurch City Council. Velos have been working on the Major Cycle Routes since December 2015.

Biography

Mitchell is a Civil Engineer with 8 years’ experience specialising in transport and land development engineering with specific expertise in construction observation, contract management and civil infrastructure design. Mitchell is the Design Leader for the Rapanui Major Cycle Route from the Christchurch City Centre to Ferrymead where he has prepared innovative solutions for the “neighbourhood greenway” sections of this cycleway.
