Councillor Sara Templeton
City Councillor
Christchurch City Council

Silver linings - crisis brings opportunity

4:15 PM - 4:30 PM

Abstract

Final Presentation

Biography

Sara is a second term Christchurch City Councillor and chairs the council’s Sustainability and Community Resilience Committee. A need for action on climate change has seen her take an active interest in transport, which accounts for 53% of the cities’ emissions, in urban form and in building community resilience. Watching the gradual rebuild of the city and success in some areas has been motivating and now, like many, she see the pandemic disruption as a way to help imbed wider behaviour changes across not only Christchurch, but the country. Sara has presented at the 2WalkNCycle 2018, the TALES Symposium, Otago University 2019, the Hawkes Bay Walking and Cycling Summit March 2020 and LGNZ/NZTA Urban Mobility for Liveable Towns and Cities May 2020.
