Disrupting the Narrative- Pūhoro STEM Academy
2:00 PM - 2:30 PMBiography
My current field of research is most easily defined as mechatronic assistive technologies for rehabilitation. The field can be broadly defined as belonging to the larger fields of prosthetics, robotics, mechatronics, neurology, and assistive technologies. For the past 5 years, I have maintained an active research program that acknowledges the value of Mātauranga Māori and its influence on a world that is striving for sustainability. My research investigates the relationship between people, the world, and technology. He aha te mea nui o te ao? he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata. I have also recently been engaged in developing the STEM workforce through disrupting the narratives around Māori student success in STEM.
