Professional background
Royal New Zealand Air Force – Avionics Technicians Certificate (5-year program) 8 years’ service.
Hewlett Packard New Zealand – 17 years, many roles from Customer Engineer to Pre-Sales Technical Consulting Manager.
Current Role with Accurate includes Sales, Technical support both internal and external, and as a Trainer for a number of our Underground Utility Location training courses.
With a strong background in Electronics and Information Technology, I have a keen interest in the growing profession of Utility Location and the broad array of technical equipment required to complete these tasks. Working with key people in this industry in New Zealand and now running and teaching the training courses developed at Accurate, it has been incredibly rewarding to aid our course attendees learn and develop their skills. Learning is a lifelong course and a better understanding of the technology you work with on a daily basis helps grow your personal passion and almost always helps you achieve better outcomes. The feedback from our attendees is awesome.
My personal interests are varied, with a strong affinity to the outdoors, water sports, boating etc.
My wife and I own a larger lifestyle property with cattle, sheep and horses, dogs, cats and even birds… p.s. wife is a vet nurse.

Reducing Risk: What to know when engaging a Service Locator

Sarah has a BSc in Geophysics from the University of Leeds.
Since joining Geotechnics (Auckland) as a Geophysics Technician in January 2019, she has utilised
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) Tools as part of the
Underground Service Locating team for a wide variety of different projects.
These projects include commercial, residential and public projects, for example: determining the best location for new water pipes to be installed or identifying optimum locations to widen carriageways (i.e. for a new roundabout or lane), or a full service investigation to aid design of a new multi-story building, to finding anything under where a proposed crane pad wants to sit.

Sydney light rail lessons learnt

Chris has held roles with ‘Locaters Pty Ltd’ as a Locator, Surveyor and Utility Survey Manager over the past 10 years. This has seen him working on some of the largest infrastructure projects throughout New South Wales. His last project prior to moving to NZ being the five-year Sydney light rail project. Although more than work has brought Chris to NZ, his focus is on promoting specialist consultancy services to the design and construction industry. He comes to NZ with a broad range of skills and depth of experience in subsurface utility surveying, damage prevention, project management, training, H&S management and much more.
