Biography

Shane is Technical Director at Abley. In late 2016 Shane was commissioned as an independent traffic expert to prepare a downstream effects management plan for the Christchurch Northern Corridor. Shane has lived in Northern Christchurch for the last twenty years and has been following or directly involved in transport planning issues in the city since the early 1990’s when he was a PhD student. He is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the University of Canterbury, where he is a regular guest lecturer. He is also been a member of two TRB research committees in the USA (pedestrians and one of the road safety committees). Shane's experience includes transport planning and road safety engineering and research.

Biography

Greg is a transportation planner and urbanist. He has over five years' experience within local government and consultancy in New Zealand and the UK. Greg has led the delivery of a range of successful transport businesses cases including the Wakatipu Active Travel Network Single Stage Business Case and Clarence Valley Access Indicative Business Case, giving him a broad range of experience in developing transport solutions in complex land use environments. He is currently the business case writer for development of a Single Stage Business Case for the Brougham-Moorhouse area of Christchurch, identifying a range of interventions to enable land use and transport integration, create a more vibrant area for communities, improve travel time reliability and safety outcomes, and support improvements to the public realm. Greg is a passionate advocate for cycling and walking to make our cities more liveable places.

Biography

Bryce is a Principal in Beca’s Transport Advisory Practice and Team Leader for the Brougham Moorhouse Project. He is a Chartered Engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in consultancy and central government. He has expertise through the lifecycle of transport projects through investigation, option selection, community engagement, design and construction. He has worked across many regions in New Zealand on a wide variety of projects. His recent experience includes the Safe Roads Alliance and Access to Clarence Business case. Beca commenced work on the Brougham Moorhouse Single Stage Business Case in late 2018 and Bryce has led the project through problem definition, community engagement up to the point of recommending a preferred option to the project partners. Through this process he has developed a strong understanding of the challenges, opportunities and constraints this area presents and how these can be applied more generally elsewhere.

Biography

Stephanie is the Project Lead for Jacobs on Victoria Street Linear Park. She is an experienced lead in the development of the multi criteria analysis assessment and options development. Her wide range of skills enables her to work collaboratively with other disciplines to develop solutions which address the problems. As Manager of Investment Programmes for Auckland Council, Liz excels at strategic thinking and taking a pragmatic approach to projects. She is the driver in taking a “best practice” and evidence-based approach, encouraging participation from a wide range of people, through new (to them) process and innovative engagement approaches when dealing with constraints, conflict and engagement. Together with our teams, Liz and Stephanie are looking at transforming Victoria Street by enabling people to connect from Albert Park to Victoria Park within a healthy environment, in a way that reflects the unique identity of central Auckland and our aspirations as a community, so that our future wellbeing, our city and our ecosystem can collectively thrive in a safe and prosperous place.

Regenerating our streets

Biography

David is an urban regeneration and housing specialist, developed over his 23-year career. He is a qualified Planning and Development Property Surveyor, with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors certification and has a Masters in Urban Regeneration. His experience spans work across Europe and New Zealand. He has worked on regeneration schemes with major people movement components, not least the MetroLink tram network in Greater Manchester and Manchester Airport City. He was part of the Core Team for Greater Manchester working on the delivery of the UK's first City Deal between the Combined Authority for Manchester and UK Government. He has worked extensively in the renewal of Auckland, not least its key CBD streets. David manages the tension between delivery and design of commercial development advice and masterplanning work from his time in regeneration and affordable housing schemes in the north of England, Wellington and Auckland.
