Details

If people cannot afford insurance, protection gaps will widen increasing vulnerability and raising the risk of moral hazard for governments. The panel session will discuss whether the pressure on premiums from high inflation, levies and taxes on insurance and higher claims costs point to the need for different products and service offerings? Are basic vanilla products an option? What role can micro-insurance play? Does innovative parametric cover offer a way forward? Or is affordability just a product of the current cycle?
