Biography

Dan Marsh Dan has 12 years’ experience in the field of traffic signals, ITS and network operations in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia and the United States. He is a highly competent SCATS user and has experience of daily SCATS operations and set-up, bus/LRV priority at signals, detailed monitoring and optimisation of individual intersections and corridors and designing and reviewing intersections and traffic signals. During his 9 years in Auckland, Dan has worked alongside both Auckland Transport and NZTA at ATOC Smales in various roles assisting with the monitoring, operations and maintenance of the entire Auckland network. Through this role he has developed an intimate and detailed knowledge of how the network operates and reacts to incidents and change, and the challenges that future growth will bring. The strong relationships he has with key stakeholders within AT and NZTA, and the collaborative approach he taken to working alongside these clients will be a distinct advantage in this alliance. As part of his commitment to further the traffic signal industry Dan has been an active participant in the IPENZ Transportation Subgroup Signals New Zealand User Group (SNUG) since moving to NZ in 2008. At the 2012 AGM Dan was elected to the Committee, providing steering and support for the practise and art of traffic signal design and operation in New Zealand. Although stepping down from the Committee in early 2017 to allow others an opportunity, he continues to actively contribute to the wider industry in New Zealand.
