Biography

David Brown has an honours degree in civil engineering but you would not get him to design a bridge you wanted to walk over safely. His passion is in traffic engineering and transport planning, which is all about what we need and how we use our transport systems, not how we build them. David soon became involved in researching, writing and commenting on issues through all avenues of the media. He has developed policy, produced technical reports, written speeches, produced videos, produced newsletters, worked with social media, presented technical papers and made after dinner speeches. He has also run small, medium and large businesses and was mentored in the skills of corporate planning. Along with his skills in communication this has led to work in facilitating businesses, community meetings, conferences and planning processes. He was once asked to participate in a think tank on the Future of Transport “not just because of your expertise but because of your ability to think broadly and inspire others to explore together what is plausible, preferred and what needs to be changed in order to get there”. His hobby is now motoring and transport writing and broadcasting. He test drives a different new car each week but his ultimate measure of a car is dependent on his teenager who has helped develop the "Hayden Brown - Will you drive me to school in that car?” factor.
