Biography

Prior to joining the Ministry of Transport in 2015, Ralph Samuelson was Vice-President/Chief of Research at the Asia-Pacific Energy Research Centre in Tokyo, Japan from 2009-2014. From 2004-2009 he was with the NZ Ministry of Economic Development, where he was lead author of the "New Zealand’s Energy Outlook to 2030". He has a Masters in Transportation Systems from M.I.T, a Ph.D. in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford, and more than two decades of experience doing energy and transport modelling.

Biography

Brett is Senior Manager System Design with the New Zealand Transport Agency which is a Crown entity. The purpose of the organisation is to allow great journeys to keep New Zealand moving. Brett Gliddon has been with the New Zealand Transport Agency for the past 17 years. In this time he has worked in the Highway and Network Operations Division and now the System Design and Delivery Group, responsible for providing, improving and maintaining an integrated land transport system to effectively enable transport services. Brett is a qualified Civil Engineer and has been involved in the development of some of New Zealand’s largest projects including the $70M Grafton Gully motorway upgrade project, the $200M Northern Busway project, the $360M Northern Gateway Toll Road project, the $1.3B Puhoi to Wellsford project and the $1.4B Waterview Tunnel project. Brett moved into a newly created role of Senior Manager System Design in July 2017 and is responsible for the design and development of integrated transport system with our partners across the entire transport system.

Biography

Alan is a Chartered Engineer with a Masters Degree in Transportation and over 20 years’ experience of transport and infrastructure in New Zealand, the UK and Fiji. Originally from the UK, he has lived in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. He is currently Principal Transport Planner with Tonkin & Taylor in Hamilton, having previously been employed by MWH and Opus. Alan is passionate about transport and the outdoors and has competed in a number of triathlons and adventure races including the Goat as well as solo tramping the great walks and the Kaimai Ranges. He has put this to the test volunteering for LandSAR, both as a first response team member and as an active fundraiser. Alan is Chair of the Transportation Group NZ National Committee.
