Street Hierarchy & Power of Design
4:30 PM - 4:50 PMBiography
A driven and experienced Registered Landscape Architect, passionate about utilizing the combination of strategy, design, technical expertise and research as tools to enhance the way people live in and move around their city. Currently working in a specialist design review / design lead role on a wide range of projects at Auckland Transport, with a key focus to achieve integrated and connected networks and quality design outcomes for the modes of walking and cycling.
My key skills and strengths are in the area of concept design, problem solving, technical details, as well as understanding human tendencies around transport use.
Well travelled and ambitious, in June 2016 I undertook a cycle study tour which included Vancouver, Copenhagen, Berlin, London and several cities in the Netherlands; here I met with transportation professionals to understand how they are overcoming the challenges associated with designing and retrofitting cycle infrastructure. I have walked the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain, lived in Greece and New York, worked in Uganda and travelled through northern Africa so have experienced a hugely diverse range of cultures, cities, transport systems and people.
