Sharlene affiliates to Taranaki, Te Atiawa, Ngati Toa Rangatira, Kai Tahu and Ngati Raukawa ki te Tonga. She has a background that traverses health, education and social services.
As a facilitator of whanau transformation, Sharlene has spent the past decade in her practice as a Pou Rongoa - a senior Rongoa practitioner working nationally and across her tribal regions. Sharlene co-founded a 40 strong Collective of qualified, Rongoa practitioners who currently deliver services, taiao-based programmes and events across greater Wellington. She is inspired to share the signature Rongoa knowledge and practices of her people.
Sharlene will be joined by Taonga Puoro practitioner and composer Jerome Kavanagh Poutama of Maniapoto, Mokai Patea , Ngati Rangi and Whanganui iwi shares Oro Atua Puoro Maori sound journey utilising his whanau of Taonga Puoro “Te Haa o Pohokura” and modern sound technology to create an orchestra of natures song.
