Janine has over 30 years of experience as a general practitioner and enjoys lifelong and intergenerational care of patients in her south-west Christchurch community.
In the last 10 years Janine has taken up roles at the primary – secondary care interface. As a clinical editor and clinical leader she leans on a strong value of stewardship and develops relationships with colleagues to make changes that improve the patient journey. In triage she has worked with surgery and radiology colleagues to ensure that the right patients receive imaging and gives support to primary care clinicians with individualized feedback and updating the related Health Pathways.

Josie Todd is a UK trained Oncoplastic Breast surgeon based in Christchurch since 2009. She is a graduate of Lady Harding Medical College in New Delhi, India and completed her basic surgical and higher surgical training in the UK. She introduced Oncoplastic techniques in the management of breast cancer treatment following her appointment in Canterbury District health board. Her main focus in this area has been to avoid unnecessary mastectomy for women and broaden the scope of immediate reconstruction in breast cancer patients. Other involvements include, setting up the High-Risk Familial Breast clinic in collaboration with the Genetic Service, implementation of electronic referral system in breast services, setting up the transgender pathway in Public, contributor to the Breast Section of Health Pathways, and establishing benign breast reduction within the department of general surgery in conjunction with Plastics department. She has also been an Education Supervisor for 10 years before giving up this role very recently. Her other interests include, being an examiner for RACS and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Senior Lecturer for University of Otago and as an external clinical advisor for HDC and ACC. She has been actively involved in improving health outcomes for Māori women diagnosed with breast cancer and has delivered invited talks in regional Marais to improve awareness in breast health. She has contributed to the Oncoplastic fellowship training and the advanced trainee workshops conducted by Breast SurgANZ since its inception in 2012. She has also helped establish the Aotearoa Breast Cancer fund in Canterbury to help raise funding for nurses' education. More recently, she has been the convenor of the breast section in the Annual Scientific Conference for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, held in Christchurch, New Zealand.
