The NZTA is responding to the Government Policy Statement which calls for a significant reduction in deaths and serious injuries that occur on the transport network. Niclas Johansson is a senior manager in the Safety and Environment team accountable for the safety investment programme; its development, implementation and that it delivers timely benefits in the 2018-2021 NLTP. This requires refreshed decision making processes, funding arrangements and improved practices. Nic joined the NZTA in 2009 and held Highway Manager positions in Dunedin, Christchurch and Tauranga before turning his full attention to Road Safety in 2017.

Jo is a Transportation Planner with 18 years’ experience in the private and public sectors gained in the UK and New Zealand. Jo has experience in project delivery, procurement, consenting, travel planning, cycle design, transport assessments, public consultation, economic evaluation and transport modelling. Jo has developed a specific skillset in public consultation and how it relates to project delivery. She has also led a number of community consultation exercises, spearheading and facilitating meetings with landowners and key stakeholders. She has a professional interest in road pricing methodology for funding and equitable charging for transport.

Colin Brodie is a Lead Advisor on Safety Interventions for the New Zealand Transport Agency. He has helped develop a number of road safety innovations and road safety improvement programmes in NZ. Colin has been a member of the Austroads Safety Task Force for 12 years, helping guide the implementation of the Safe System. He was also a member and contributing author of the OECD/ITF working group for the publication of the Zero Road Deaths & Serious Injuries research report in 2016. Colin is a technical advisor to the UK based Towards Zero Foundation.

Integrated Intervention Logic Model – informing road safety investment

Paul Graham is the NZ Transport Agency’s Principal Scientist, with more than 25 years’ experience in road safety research working in New Zealand's various transport entities.
His interests and activities include road safety strategy, evaluation, injury data integration, and audience research to inform and support the road safety advertising programme, working closely with NZ Police. He is also New Zealand’s chapter representative on the Australasian College of Road Safety.
