Biography

Steffan Thomas is the Transport Operations Manager for Christchurch City Council. Steffan is a Chartered Engineer and has been at Christchurch City Council since 2009. Steffan is an experienced leader with more than 19 years experience working in local government and the private sector in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom across all disciplines of transport. Steffan’s Operations department is responsible for the operation of the transport network and his teams include the Traffic Operations, Road Amenity and Asset Protection, Travel Demand Management, Cycle Safe, Parking Operations and Parking Compliance teams. Steffan was been involved in the response to the Christchurch earthquakes and the repair and regeneration of the city following those earthquakes, including in the development of the An Accessible City Chapter (AAC) to the Recovery Plan and the implementation of the AAC projects. He has also been involved in the Major Cycleways, the Transport Rebuild Programme, Bus Interchange, and is currently a Board Member for the Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC).

Biography

Brent is Manager of the Mobility and Safety team at the Ministry of Transport, where has worked since October 2008. The Ministry is the Government’s lead policy adviser on transport. In his role, Brent is responsible for advice on land transport safety, public and active transport, and accessibility. This includes leading the development of a new road safety strategy for New Zealand. Prior to his current role, Brent managed the Ministry’s Strategic Direction and Performance team, and in 2014 completed a secondment to the Policy Advisory Group in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Brent holds a conjoint Bachelor of the Arts/Bachelor of Business Studies (Economics & Marketing) degree from Massey University, Palmerston North.
