Darren Davis, Lead Transport & Land Use Integration Specialist, Stantec New Zealand
Darren works in the tricky nexus between land use, placemaking and movement. Put simply, there’s no point having place without movement to get there and no point having movement with no place to go. He has 25 years' experience in transport and land use, including being a lobbyist, planner, strategist, communicator and consultant. He has been involved in projects ranging from high level strategic policy advice; successfully influencing regional and central government agencies; to on-the-ground involvement in major transport infrastructure and land-use projects; doing public transport service design; carrying out high-level policy and strategy work as well as being a key team member on transit oriented development projects. Until recently, he was Auckland Council's Transport and Land Use Integration Manager, where he led the Business Case for Walking Work, and is currently the Lead Transport & Land Use Integration Specialist at Stantec New Zealand.

Dr David Tripp is a general physician and intensive care specialist. He is currently clinical leader of the General Medicine surface at Wellington Hospital. This is a large department caring for 7,500 inpatients per year, many with illnesses resulting from diabetes, heart disease, cancer and obesity. He bikes to work - slowly. He is the proud husband of one wife and proud dad to two daughters, and proud holder of accounts at two tractor shops in the Wairarapa.

Martin is the Transportation Manager at Tauranga City Council. He has 32 years’ experience working in the transportation field with various local authorities both here in New Zealand and the UK. Starting his working career with the London Borough of Barnet (UK), he dealt with the investigation and design of traffic and parking management schemes. He then spent 18 years on the south coast of the UK at East Sussex County Council in a variety of transport related roles including Crash Investigator and Highway Maintenance Manager. He also spent 18 years in the UK Fire Service dealing with the aftermath of road crashes, so is passionate about creating a safer transport network. 13 years ago, he moved to New Zealand and now heads up a team delivering a full suite of transportation activities, including safety projects and a significant walking and cycling programme. Outside of work Martin is a keen cyclist and dog walker, and an armchair sports enthusiast.

Peter Kortegast BE(Civil), is an experience project manager and local government specialist with over 30 years’ experience. He has strong local government experience having been Nelson City Council Transportation Asset Manager. Peter is a specialist cycle and road safety engineer and understands high speed low volume design issues. Peter is up to date with current national and international best practice. Peter enjoys presenting. He has been involved in three significant NZTA cycle research projects and will bring his knowledge on the Cycle level of service project as a technical reviewer.

Tim Hughes is the Principal Safety Engineer (Active Modes) at the NZ Transport Agency. In the last 20 years he has specialised in active modes. Tim has provided technical oversight to the NZTAs published guidance on walking and cycling and led or contributed to many research projects. He initiated previous research into Cycling LoS which also was the topic of the thesis for his Master of Engineering in Transportation degree. Tim commissioned and oversaw for the Transport Agency the Cycling Level of Service research being presented at this conference.
