Overview
The field trip commences at 2:30pm, allowing you enough time to return to your accommodation to relax before the conference dinner.
Details
After the 1 hour interactive session, 1:30pm - 2:30pm, the session facilitators and presenters will then invite you to Hamilton City Council's new "Smart Space" located in Garden Place (on foot or e-scooter TBC). Stop in on the wayto pick up Duck Island ice-cream. Discussions will continue until 4:00pm. This will allow you enough time to return to your accommodation to relax before the conference dinner.

Chelsey has a background in central and local government in New Zealand and the UK. She is passionate about thinking outside the box and inspiring and supporting those around her to do the same to achieve great things for the community of Hamilton. She gets to live out this passion in her current role as programme manager for Hamilton City Council’s Smart Hamilton programme, which is all about supporting the Council and community of Hamilton to innovate and work together for positive change.
In her free time Chelsey is passionate about gardening and is involved in a number of charitable organisations that work to increase peoples access to good food and food autonomy where it is needed most. For her, in both her professional and voluntary work, improving the wellbeing of the people she serves is at the centre of everything.

John Kinghorn is a Transport Systems Engineer with Hamilton City Council. He manages the real-time transport operations team and is responsible for deploying ‘Smart’ transport solutions such as Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), data and insights.
John’s primary role is to make it easier and safer for people to move around the city through the creation of effective and reliable transport systems.
He is also involved in Hamilton’s Smart City initiative, where he works to maximise the community benefit of initiatives through outcome-focussed collaboration and partnerships.
John is actively involved in national engineering groups; he is a chartered engineer and member of Engineering NZ, a committee member of the traffic signals user group, and part of the national safety intersections working group.
Outside of work John is involved in youth work, setting up a small country homestead, and trying to find time for various hobbies such as DIY, smart home technology, building arcade machines and model aircraft.

John Wall is recognised as one of Australia's leading specialists in the application of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for road safety. He has over 25 years of experience in the development of road safety strategies and countermeasures. He holds tertiary qualifications in agricultural science, education and public health.
At the beginning of 2019 John commenced his current role as Program Manager for Connected and Automated Vehicles in Austroads; the organisation for Australasian road transport and traffic agencies. Austroads members are collectively responsible for the management of over 900,000 kilometres of roads valued at more than $250 billion representing the single largest community asset in Australia and New Zealand.

Visit Victoria on the river stop at Duck Island ice cream, maps will be arranged and at the conclusion delegates can walk back to their accommodation.
