Shanthi is a Professor of Public Health at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. A pediatrician by training, Shanthi undertook postgraduate studies in public health at the Johns Hopkins University before returning to New Zealand to lead a multi-disciplinary research program focusing on injury prevention, trauma care, transport systems, and disability. An enduring theme throughout her career has been the desire to reduce inequities in population health through addressing barriers in physical and social environments. Collaborating widely in New Zealand, Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and further afield, Shanthi’s award-winning research crosses traditional boundaries of scholarship to stimulate changes in policy and practice. She has published over 300 scientific papers, serves on multiple international research advisory groups including the WHO, and is passionately committed to coaching and mentoring the next generation of scholar-activists. She was awarded the Te Manaia Leadership Award by the Injury Prevention Network of Aotearoa in 2013.

Bridget is a Chartered Engineer working on transport research, policy, and transport planning and engineering. She has been based in Hamilton for over 15 years, where she works for MRCagney. Bridget has a doctorate in cognitive psychology, and honours and masters degrees in civil engineering.
Bridget’s work focuses on challenging the status quo by bringing good evidence to decision-making in transport. She has completed a variety of research projects in walking, cycling, road safety, and access for people with disabilities. Bridget has worked extensively with community, including the disability sector, to understand systemic barriers to more equity of participation. Her PhD thesis was an investigation into the prevalence and consequences of mind wandering during everyday driving.

Prof Currie is a renowned international Public Transport research leader and policy advisor with over 30 year's experience. He has published more research papers in leading international peer research journals in this field than any other researcher in the world. He is founder of the ‘World Transit Research’ clearinghouse (www.worldtransitresearch.info) which has consolidated all research in this field into a single accessible source and is now used by over 8,000 towns and cities in over 170 countries worldwide. Professor Currie has worked for some of the world's leading Public Transport Operators including London Transport, and he has managed numerous Public Transport research and development projects internationally. Prof Currie’s experience spans Project Management, Demand Forecasting, Planning Methods in Public Transport, Regulatory Reviews, Efficiency and Performance Benchmarking, Training, Market Research, Investment Appraisal and Financial and Economic Analysis. Graham is also a specialist advisor to international agencies on planning transport for special events and has worked on all the summer Olympic Games since 1996 and the Hajj pilgrimage in Mekka. Graham holds one of the worlds first full Professorships specializing in Public Transport. In this role he aims to develop knowledge and training for the public transport profession on a national and international basis.
In 2015, an independent world review of academic research in the field of public transport (Heilig, Leonard & Voß, Stefan. 2015. A Scientometric Analysis of Public Transport Research. Journal of Public Transportation, 18 (2): 111-141.) found that public transport research at Monash University was the leading research group in Australia and in the top 3 in the world. In addition, Professor Currie was found to one of the most cited researchers in the field and also one of the most productive in terms of the volume of research outputs in leading research journals.
In 2013 Professor Currie was lead author in a paper which won the William W Millar Award for Best Research paper in public transport at the 91st Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in Washington DC USA. This is the largest transport conference in the world. In 2017 Professor Currie also won the William W Millar Award for Best Research paper in public transport at the 96th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board. This means Professor Currie is the only person to have ever won this prestigious award twice.
In 2017 Professor Currie was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Technology, Science and Engineering (ATSE).

Skye Duncan is the Director of the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) at the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO). Skye and her team produced the award-winning Global Street Design Guide and provide ongoing technical assistance to cities around the world on safe and sustainable street design and mobility.
Skye is an urban designer with over 15 years of experience in architecture, urban design, and planning, and was recognized as one of TUMI’s Remarkable Women in Transportation in 2019. She has worked as a Senior Urban Designer at the New York City Department of City Planning, as an International Urban Design Consultant, and as an Associate Professor at Columbia University in New York City, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar.

Fabian is Lead Advisor Safety for the NZ Transport Agency. In this role, Fabian is responsible for providing strategic direction on road safety to help lead and shape national safety strategy and policy development, programme development and implementation. Fabian is leading the Agency’s input to the government’s next national road safety strategy. He is also responsible for leading research on new initiatives and change programmes to significantly improve safety performance in New Zealand.
Prior to his current role, Fabian was Safe System Lead for the NZ Safe Roads Alliance. He was responsible for leading the implementation of Safe System road infrastructure measures as part of the government’s Safer Roads and Roadsides programme. Fabian previously worked as Road Safety Advisor at the Public Works Authority in Qatar, working with key government agencies to develop Qatar’s National Road Safety Strategy and providing advice on the implementation and monitoring of key road safety initiatives. Fabian has previously worked in New Zealand as the National Traffic & Safety Manager at the NZ Transport Agency. He has also worked in various road safety and forensic crash investigation roles at companies including the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) and the UK Transport Research Laboratory (TRL).
Fabian has written numerous published technical papers and presented internationally on road safety and forensic crash investigation and is an experienced practitioner on the Safe System approach to road safety.

John Wall is recognised as one of Australia's leading specialists in the application of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for road safety. He has over 25 years of experience in the development of road safety strategies and countermeasures. He holds tertiary qualifications in agricultural science, education and public health.
At the beginning of 2019 John has commenced his current role as Program Manager for Connected and Automated Vehicles in Austroads; the organisation for Australasian road transport and traffic agencies. Austroads members are collectively responsible for the management of over 900,000 kilometres of roads valued at more than $250 billion representing the single largest community asset in Australia and New Zealand.
