Biography

Fabian is Lead Advisor Safety for the NZ Transport Agency. In this role, Fabian is responsible for providing strategic direction on road safety to help lead and shape national safety strategy and policy development, programme development and implementation. Fabian is leading the Agency’s input to the government’s next national road safety strategy. He is also responsible for leading research on new initiatives and change programmes to significantly improve safety performance in New Zealand. Prior to his current role, Fabian was Safe System Lead for the NZ Safe Roads Alliance. He was responsible for leading the implementation of Safe System road infrastructure measures as part of the government’s Safer Roads and Roadsides programme. Fabian previously worked as Road Safety Advisor at the Public Works Authority in Qatar, working with key government agencies to develop Qatar’s National Road Safety Strategy and providing advice on the implementation and monitoring of key road safety initiatives. Fabian has previously worked in New Zealand as the National Traffic & Safety Manager at the NZ Transport Agency. He has also worked in various road safety and forensic crash investigation roles at companies including the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) and the UK Transport Research Laboratory (TRL). Fabian has written numerous published technical papers and presented internationally on road safety and forensic crash investigation and is an experienced practitioner on the Safe System approach to road safety.

Biography

Kaye Clark (NZCE, BE, MBA) Kaye is a Principal Advisor in the Safety, Health and Environment Group at the New Zealand Transport Agency. Previously she was the Agency’s Hamilton Highway Manager responsible for building, maintaining and operating 2,500km of highways within the Waikato and Bay of Plenty region. Before joining the Transport Agency, Kaye held engineering and management positions with three Local Authorities, giving her a unique perspective on the challenges facing road controlling authorities. Kaye sits on the University of Auckland Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Board and the Board of Engineering NZ. She is a member of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA), the NZ Institute of Directors and is a Fellow of Engineering NZ.

Biography

Andrew McKillop; REG Programme Manager Andrew joined the NZ Transport Agency in 2005. More recently his role has focussed on leading REG, an industry partnership developing and implementing tools and philosophy to drive more effective and more customer focussed transport system delivery. The REG programme is underpinned by the one network road classification. Andrew previously worked in local government and has a vast range of experience in asset and network management, including leading safety and CBD revitalisation programmes.

Biography

Inspector Pete Jones is the Prevention Manager based in the National Road Policing Centre (NRPC). He has been in this position since July 2018 and works with the Police Districts to help reduce deaths and serious injuries on our roads. Inspector Jones has been in the Police since 1994 and has worked in a number of areas including the CIB, primarily in organised crime, Response, Intelligence and in Road Policing.
