Drew joined Tasman District Council in 2017 as a Transport Planning Advisor. Prior to this Drew has had broad experience across several roles including, Naval Architecture, Project Management, Strategic Planning and Asset Management. At Tasman District Council, Drew is responsible for all transportation planning activities as a territorial authority and a regional council (unitary authority). Since starting at Tasman District Council, Drew has worked hard to address key issues of population growth and climate change.

Laurent Hermant started at Tonkin + Taylor in May 2022. He has over 20 years' experience in project management of varied traffic and transportation planning projects, including numerous multi-disciplinary public transport infrastructure and planning projects, including acting as The Engineer during the construction phases of various Public Transport Interchanges and Municipal Township Developments in South Africa. Laurent has specialist interest and skills in Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and non-motorised transport (NMT) planning and microscopic pedestrian modelling incorporating Virtual Reality (VR) and has experience in a number of relevant transport planning and micro simulation software packages. Laurent holds a PhD (Civil) and a Master of Science in Engineering (Civil) from University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, a Honours in Engineering (Transportation Engineering) from the University of Pretoria and a BSc. Civil Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town.

Daniel has worked at Auckland Transport since 2011 as a transport planner and engineer, and has been involved in a range of key transport projects. He was seconded to the Auckland Light Rail Light Establishment Unit as the business case lead.

Karl Baker is Stantec New Zealand’s Active Modes and Complete Streets Practice Leader. Karl sees cities, and particularly city streets, as places of concentrated opportunity for making a difference to global challenges. He works towards transport systems that contribute to social inclusion, economic prosperity, healthier environments and people. Karl has worked on transport, land use and urban infrastructure policy, planning and decision-making at roles in governments, universities and consultancies across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Mark is a specialist - having studied Transportation across the Planning and Engineering disciplines, in the UK and Aotearoa. He is a member of the TDB Board and NZMUGs committee since 2017, and representative to the TG national committee. He is the first holder of Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP) qualificaiton awarded through the CIHT/TPS international Pilot and working with the CIHT to ‘champion’ the qualification and currently mentoring successvie candidates. He is a Better Business Case Practitioner and a trained and experienced expert witness. His specialisms also include model development, economic analysis and strategic planning. Mark’s recent projects include developing rail demand forecasting tool for the Hamilton to Auckland IBC, delivering an ITA for a new town centre master plan in Northland, and forecsating for the project iReX interislander ferry programme.
