Emily is an Associate Landscape Architect at Beca and specializes in transformational cycling and walking projects around New Zealand. Emily is also studying part time towards a Masters in Urban Design. In 2019 she was selected as one of 30 from around the world to attend Summer School at the University of Amsterdam. Here she completed a ‘Planning a Cycling City’ course.
Emily has been implementing her knowledge from Amsterdam through her work on the CCC MCR Peloton Design team where she has been the lead landscape architect for over 5 years. She is design managing the development of 4 active travel routes for both QLDC and Waka Kotahi in Queenstown. Emily has also been involved in a variety of strategy and design projects in Tauranga, the West Coast and Mackenzie District. She is passionate about the humble bicycle and is motivated to enable more people to feel safe using active travel options across NZ”.

Alex is a Road Safety Engineer Based in Tauranga. He has been working in the Transportation Industry for the past ten years with a strong background in Road Safety, in particular Infrastructure Improvements and Investment Outcomes. Alex has supported Waka Kotahi in multiple Speed Limit Reviews across New Zealand, with roles as both a consultant and in his previously seconded Role as the Safety Engineer for the Bay of Plenty.
Alex is also a keen Road Safety Auditor, particularly undertaking audits for his local council where he has lived for the past six years.

A world without public transport?

Shendi gained her Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Auckland in 2018. During her time at University she gained work experience in construction management and was involved in a UOA funded research project related to infrastructure damage in the Bay of Plenty due to storm related causes. Since then Shendi joined Abley in January 2019 she has gained experience in traffic engineering, road safety analysis, business case development and development planning. Shendi loves to delve into data, modelling and CAD design. She has enjoyed delivering several projects including, transport assessments, speed limit changes, development of the pedestrian crossing prioritisation tool and support in the safe network programme. Shendi is a global thinker, even though she focuses on the details of her work, and is showing leadership in the transportation community.

She has over 10 years of road safety experience in New Zealand and Australia, which includes working for local government, road safety research and consultancy. Cara is passionate about road safety and cycling and enjoys making a difference in people’s lives through working on active transport and road safety projects.

She enjoys the complexity of the urban environment, in particular identifying opportunities for street design to transform our central cities, not only in how we move to and through, but in terms of the human experience and connection to place.

Louise has worked with TDM at the strategic and policy level, she’s led the development of regional TDM programmes in Aotearoa. She's a "systems thinker" and likes to understand the root cause of a problem.
