Kathryn King is the Urban Mobility Manager at Waka Kotahi, where she works to make Aotearoa’s towns and cities more people-friendly so that everyone, regardless of where they live, can travel in ways that are good for their health and the planet. Her programmes include Streets for People and Transport Choices, which are opening up streets across the country. She joined Waka Kotahi following four years with Auckland Transport where she oversaw the city's largest ever investment in cycling. Kathryn spent 15 years in London, managing walking, cycling and safety projects, over eight of them with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, where she delivered several award winning schemes.

Abstract

Julie a Social Impact Assessment, Community Engagement and Project Management professional specialising in the development and delivery of high level social impact assessment and management, strategy development for infrastructure and the resources sector. She has both led and contributed to Social Impact Assessments and the development of Social Impact Management Plans for a range of projects including proposed coal and rare earth mines, along with railway and electricity corridors. Having worked on projects across New Zealand and Queensland in Australia Julie has a thorough understanding of the challenges of engaging within different communities and with various stakeholder groups including State and Local Government Departments and Agencies, Community Services Organisations/Groups, Proponents and other stakeholders and community members. Julie has a strong understanding of the unique characteristics of urban and regional towns as well as rural communities impacted by infrastructure development and the potential social impacts on landholders and communities from infrastructure development.

Andrew is a Technical Director at Beca specialising in traffic and transport engineering and planning. He is currently seconded to the Te Tupu Ngātahi (Supporting Growth) Alliance in Tāmaki Makaurau which is protecting transport corridors for Auckland’s growth areas for the next 30 years. Andrew specialises in the transport planning and assessment of large scale transport infrastructure and land use studies. To these studies he brings his extensive experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, transport modelling and transport economics. Andrew is also very familiar with business case processes, having led the transport planning inputs to the implementation Business Case for Auckland Transport’s PENLINK project and the East West Link Programme, Indicative and Detailed Business Cases. Andrew regularly communicates technical model outputs to non-technical and decision-making audiences, including in four Board of Inquiry consenting processes.
