Biography

Gregory has been a professional actor, writer and director for over 25 years. He began his career at The Court Theatre in Christchurch and since then has MCed and entertained at hundreds of conferences and events throughout New Zealand and Australia. He wrote and directed Mark Hadlow’s hugely successful one man show MAMIL (Middle Aged Man In Lycra) and co-wrote the critically acclaimed Kate Sheppard musical That Bloody Woman. More recently he wrote and performed in The Complete History of Nelson Abridged and wrote and directed Mr & Mrs Macbeth of Dodson Valley Road for The Professional Theatre Company in Nelson. Other career highlights include playing a pot smoking motorcyclist on Shortland Street and a heroic faun in the film The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. These characters are also available for conferences although he hasn’t had any takers to date.

Michael Town is an Associate Transport Engineer at Beca in New Zealand. Living and working in Nelson, Michael has involved in many active transport and transport planning projects across Aotearoa. Michael is Co-Convenor of the Transportation Group conference.

Biography

Clare is Co-Convenor of the Transportation Group conference. She is a senior transport planner at WSP based in Nelson, but is originally from Detroit. Her key area of expertise is safer journeys to school, sustainable transport and active mode planning. In 2022, Clare developed the Tasman Walking and Cycling Strategy which has underpinned local Streets for People and Transport Choices projects. Clare has a back ground in political science, education, social work and running small businesses. She has three children with a fourth on the way and enjoys fitness, cooking and travel in her time off.
