Biography

Abby is a subject matter expert who leads and advances nature-based resilience and biodiversity initiatives at Auckland Transport (AT), contributing significantly to the objectives embedded in AT Hīkina te Wero Environmental Action Plan and the AT Sustainability Strategy. She collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to incorporate ecological considerations and nature-based solutions into asset management, infrastructure design, and operational procedures, thereby enhancing environmental outcomes and organisational resilience. Abby holds certification as an Environmental Practitioner through the CEnvP programme and an Independent Hearing Commissioner since 2023. Before joining AT, Abby held the position of Senior Consents and Compliance Specialist at Auckland Council. In this role, she acquired technical experience in managing and treating stormwater and industrial contaminated runoffs in accordance with the Auckland Unitary Plan.

Siobhan is a geotechnical engineer based in Palmerston North with 7 years-experience in civil infrastructure projects across the North Island. Siobhan’s experience is across the project cycle, from initial site assessments, geotechnical investigations and modelling through to construction. Siobhan has experience across the horizontal and vertical infrastructure spaces and brings experience working in varied geological conditions across the North Island. She works well in multi-disciplinary teams to leverage opportunities and manage risks for successful project outcomes. She has extensive construction monitoring experience, validating design assumptions and working within contractual frameworks.

Andrew Kennedy is a Wellington based Chartered Civil and Geotechnical Engineer. Andrew has worked on the design of the Te Ara Tupua Pathway since 2019 and is the Design Manager responsible for coordinating all of the complex multidisciplinary inputs.

Biography

Louise Baker is a transport planner at Resolve Group with over 20 years' experience in transport planning across New Zealand and the UK. She brings a collaborative, systems-based approach to designing resilient, people-centred transport solutions. In 2024, Louise received the Biennial Transport Planner Award from the Transport Planning Society NZ. Louise is passionate about helping cities to find their place in Nature. Last year, she led a project team that designed a Nature-based Solutions trial on Auckland’s motorway network, a project funded through NZTA's Crown Resilience Programme.

Biography

Sam is a Senior Civil and Transport Engineer specialising in multi-modal street design. He’s passionate about design and construction which focusses on the behaviours and needs of users to deliver efficient, safe, liveable, and legible streets. Sam's work spans design from ‘concept’ to ‘for construction’ design, as well as design review, guidance development and training, inclusive access, community engagement, and construction observation. Sam’s driven by how transport design enhances people’s freedom, access, and safety, while reducing emissions and transforming streets into vibrant spaces. He enjoys the challenge of balancing diverse user-needs within project constraints. As a regular user of public transport, walking, cycling, scooter- and car-share, Sam's constantly observing how design elements are working from the perspective of users and seeking opportunities for optimisation.

Biography

Dr Bridget Doran is a transport engineer and researcher working as an independent consultant in Hamilton. She works on planning, policy and research projects for public and private sector clients. Bridget grounds her work in an awareness of the biophysical limits of the earth. Her practice focuses on inclusion of, and compassion for the human at the heart of transport investment decisions. Much of her work concerns transport for disabled people, including promoting the voices of disabled people and those who advocate with them. Bridget has degrees in civil and transportation engineering and a doctorate in applied cognitive psychology. She is a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand and former Chair of its Transportation Group.
