Bruno has over 25 years of experience as a traffic and transportation engineer, and has worked in South Africa, the UK, the Middle East and New Zealand. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He is a member of IPENZ and a Chartered Professional Engineer. Most of his experience has been based in Auckland, and for the last 10 years he has been a business partner, director, and principal traffic and transportation engineer at Traffic Engineering Solutions Ltd. He is actively involved business and contract management. Also, he project manages teams responsible for undertaking small, medium and large scale traffic engineering projects for various councils and Auckland Transport.

Carl is a Senior Transportation Engineer at Abley Ltd. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury , achieving First Class Honours in Civil Engineering. Carl won both the award for 'Best Practice Paper' and 'AA Award for Best Conference Paper' at the 2017 IPENZ Transportation Group Conference.
Carl has a strong analytical background and has particular expertise in the integration of data manipulation and GIS technologies to solve transportation and logistics problems. He has applied these skills to an ever-growing number of safety projects in New Zealand and Australia, bridging the gap between emerging analytical and technological methods and road safety applications.

Bridget is a researcher and Chartered Engineer who works in transport transport research, policy and practice at Stantec in Hamilton. In 2018 she completed a doctorate in applied cognitive psychology. Her thesis was an investigation into mind wandering during everyday driving.

Median barriers: dividing fact from fiction

Fabian is Lead Advisor Safety for the NZ Transport Agency. In this role, Fabian is responsible for providing strategic direction on road safety to help lead and shape national safety strategy and policy development, programme development and implementation. Fabian is currently providing advice and leading the Agency’s input as part of developing the government’s next national road safety strategy. The role also involves leading research on new initiatives and change programmes to significantly improve safety performance in New Zealand.
Prior to his current role, Fabian was Safe System Lead for the NZ Safe Roads Alliance. He was responsible for leading the implementation of Safe System road infrastructure measures as part of the government’s Safer Roads and Roadsides programme. This involved promoting road safety best practices, drawing on international road safety innovation and bringing together technical knowledge. Fabian was also active in developing policies and programmes associated with national road safety investment, road safety intervention prioritisation and Safe System change management.
Fabian was previously Road Safety Advisor at Ashghal Public Works Authority in Qatar, working with key government agencies to develop Qatar’s National Road Safety Strategy and providing advice on the implementation and monitoring of key road safety initiatives. Fabian also led the development of best-practice road design standards and specifications as well as developing the national road safety engineering improvement programme.
Fabian has previously worked in New Zealand as the National Traffic & Safety Manager at the NZ Transport Agency. Fabian has also worked in various road safety and forensic crash investigation roles at companies including the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) and the UK Transport Research Laboratory (TRL).
Fabian has written numerous published technical papers and presented internationally on road safety and forensic crash investigation and is an experienced practitioner on the Safe System approach to road safety.
