Biography

Stuart has over 30 years transport sector experience working for local government and consultancy, and most recently has been at the NZ Transport Agency for over 5 years. His background has been principally in transport planning, policy and management. Over the past 3+ years he has been responsible for the Transport Agency national process improvement project on State highway resilience, and is currently leading the Agency-wide Resilience Programme.

Biography

He is a PhD student at the University of Auckland working on "Operational Resilience of a Rural Road Network". This paper is the outcome of his efforts in travel demand modelling and calibration of the network.

Biography

Doug is a senior engineering geologist at WSP Opus in Wellington, specialising in natural hazards and resilience. Doug has been heavily involved in hazard, risk and resilience studies for road networks since the Canterbury earthquakes, and since the Kaikōura earthquake he has been seconded to the North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery alliance (NCTIR), working on the recovery of the road and rail links through the earthquake-damaged area.

Biography

Mujaddad Afzal is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Auckland. He is focused on "Mass Evacuation of Cities under Impending Natural Hazards" as a Ph.D. topic. He is using Auckland as a case study. His work will benefit the Civil Defence and Emergency Management (CDEM) and Auckland Council (AC) to better plan and manage the Auckland transportation network during volcanic unrest.
