Biography

Sandra Mandic, PhD, PMP is an Adjunct Professor at Auckland University of Technology and the founder and the lead researcher on the award-winning Built Environment and Active Transport to School (BEATS) Research Programme. She is also the founder and the director of the research consultancy AGILE Research Ltd. and Team Leader Transport Strategy at Wellington City Council. Sandra’s personal and professional experience span nine cities across five countries and three continents - including Europe, Canada, United States and New Zealand. She is passionate about transport, health, research, innovation, project management, and building bridges between people, sectors and cultures. Sandra is the creator of Compass Guide Research Training Resources and author of three Compass Guide e-books linking research and project management.

Biography

Daisy has a strong interest in sustainability and climate action and how a good transport system can create a better and healthier world. Studying Environmental Science and Human Geography led her to the world of Transport Planning where she focuses on providing people with travel choices, travel plans and making environments safer for walking and cycling. Daisy is passionate about creating inclusive environments so that everyone has the option to move in a low carbon way. Tigs is a graduate transportation engineer based in Christchurch. She has experience in monitoring and evaluation, tactical urbanism and street corridor and intersection redesign. She is passionate about sustainable transport choices and helping to create communities where people can choose to leave their car at home. Lizzie is a Graduate Transportation Engineer with experience in emissions analysis, monitoring and engagement and tactical urbanism. She is passionate about making streets safer by design and encouraging mode shift to sustainable transport.

Biography

Tim Jones is the President of Living Streets Aotearoa, the national walking advocacy organisation. He was elected to the Living Streets Aotearoa Executive Council in 2019. He is a former Convener of the Sustainable Energy Forum (2005-2008) and former co-Convener of the Save the Basin Campaign. He has been a climate change campaigner for almost 20 years, with a particular interest in reducing transport emissions and creating people-centred, liveable communities. Tim Jones is a writer and editor by profession. He was the 2022 recipient of the New Zealand Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi O Aotearoa Peter & Dianne Beatson Fellowship and his climate fiction novel Emergency Weather was published in October 2023.

Biography

Ellen Blake is a long time advocate for pedestrians and walking with Living Streets Aotearoa. I am active in seeking positive change for pedestrians on many fronts, from better public transport access, through liveable, accessible green streets and places, transport and place gender equity, to simply being out walking and having fun.
