Co-presenting: The Vision: Māngere, bike capital of the Pacific

1:50 PM - 2:20 PM

Biography

I am Remco de Blaaij and working as a Team Leader for Sustainable Mobility at Auckland Transport. What we hope to bring across is to make visible and argue for the introduction of a more human centred approach to infrastructure programming. We focus on "Build it and some will come", approach, acknowledging that thinking in concrete and asphalt is important, but not without putting a human approach to it as well. This means solid investment in the future people that will use the infrastructure, understanding the needs, hear their stories and put forward sustainable support to organise a programme of their own. What we are after are not short term successes, but uses and approach that stand the time of time well and acknowledge the need to think and act in a human way.
