Fiáin d'Leafy
Chief Biking Officer
Bike Auckland
Co presenting: Equity over the Waitematā Harbour - Trevor rides again?
4:25 PM - 4:45 PMBiography
Fiáin was born and raised in Kirikiriroa Hamilton, where they stayed to complete a Bachelor of Environmental Planning from Waikato University. During their studies they were part of the youth-led climate advocacy group Generation Zero and assisted with the 'What's the Hold-Up' speaking tour. Coincidentally, this is when they were first made aware of the huge glaring gap in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's transport network; the need for walking and cycling access across te Waitematā. After University they explored Melbourne, fell in love with the trains and trams, then directed the Hamilton Fringe Festival before moving to Tāmaki Makaurau. Now they are part of the movement calling to Liberate the Lane on the existing Harbour Bridge for walking and cycling to make our region more accessible, equitable, sustainable, and overall more joyful.

Stephen Day
Kaiwhakahaere Whakapā
Herenga ā Nuku Aotearoa
Off-road access – a part of the solution
4:45 PM - 5:00 PMBiography
Herenga ā Nuku Aotearoa is the Crown’s Outdoor Access Commission. It works with communities to develop a comprehensive and safe network of tracks, trails, and public access across New Zealand. Stephen is interested in how good outdoor access can support both outdoor recreation and active transport. Stephen’s family does not have a car, so he is known to some in Wellington as the smelly, sweaty runner who turns up to meetings in running shorts and with a towel. He won’t inflict that on you at this conference, though.
